I’ve been a rail-fan and scanner buff for more than half of my life. The two hobbies go so well with one another. If you’re a rail-fan without a scanner you’re missing out on a lot. Scanner gives you a behind the scenes look inside railroading. If you’re lucky to live close by the major line you can hear the dispatcher trying to keep everything rolling on time. I’m from Attleboro, MA and Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor cuts right through the middle of the city. The line is busy with passenger service from Amtrak’s Acela Express/Northeast Regional and the Mass Bay Commuter Rail (Attleboro/Providence Line). Every now and then freight companies CSX and Providence & Worcester Railroad make an appearance on the corridor.

Along with launching this blog back in February I also launched “Southeastern New England Railroads” scanner feed. You can hear what I’m hearing.

Listen to the follow:

Amtrak

  • Amtrak’s Acela Express
  • Amtrak’s Northeast Regional
  • Detectors MP 189.8 on tracks 1 & 2 on Northeast Corridor
    (Near Pawtucket/Central Falls Station)
  • Amtrak Police for Boston and Providence

Massachusetts Bay Commuter Rail
Activity head on the following lines:

  • Providence/Attleboro Line
  • Middleboro/Lakeville Line

Freight Companies

  • CSX
  • Providence & Worcester Railroad
  • Mass Coastal Railroad

I hope you check it out.  In upcomming posts I will share some tips on Rail Scanning.
